This is a list of event that are hosted by other organizations at places designated by the Carolina Wetlands Association as Wetland Treasures of the Carolinas.  Since we maintain this list once a month, check with the host organization to verify the event information.

    Enjoy the diverse bird population with SCDNR & renowned ornithologist Craig Watson for a bird watching trailer tour throughout the Botany Bay Wildlife Management Area (WMA).

    Guided Beach Walk

    As we walk out to the beach, we'll explore and identify common characteristics of other barrier island habitats, such as maritime forests, salt marshes, and hammock islands. Once we reach the beach, we'll discuss the noticeable shoreline erosion and impacts of sea level rise on this natural un-renourished beach.

    Self Guided Trail: Scuppernong River Interpretive Boardwalk (0.57 miles)


    This accessible boardwalk trail starts behind the Walter B. Jones Center for the Sounds in Columbia and loops through a cypress swamp along the Scuppernong River.  Interpretive signs placed throughout the self-guided walk explain the wildlife found in this type of habitat and encourage visitors to look, listen and learn. Sunsets over the river can be spectacular.
